Nebraska Family Lands in the Smithsonian’s American Enterprise ExhibitSeveral years ago, the Corn Farmer Coalition, better known as the CFC, decided that it wanted to do something to improve its image among the many policy makers who live and work in Washington, D.C. So it started using aggressive advertising campaigns to let those policy makers know about the value of corn farming and what it brings to the country. They ran advertisements in subway stations in D.C. and in publications and on websites frequented by policy makers.

Many of those ads featured families like the Flaming family from Elsie, Nebraska. Family patriarch Chris Flaming is a corn farmer in Nebraska, and he was proud to do his part to help elevate the corn farming industry. He and his family were thrilled to see their photographs used as part of the CFC’s campaigns and couldn’t believe the huge reaction it got from those in D.C. The family also couldn’t believe what happened next.

After playing a prominent role in the CFC’s ads, the Flaming family was featured in the American Enterprise exhibit that went up at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in D.C.

The goal of the exhibit was to demonstrate how America went from being a small nation dependent on others to one of the biggest, most powerful nations in the world. It’s through efforts like the one made by the Flaming family on a daily basis that America has been able to thrive and succeed.

After the Smithsonian announced that the Flaming family would be part of its American Enterprise exhibit, the CFC sponsored a special farmer-to-table event at the museum that allowed the Flamings and other corn farming families to meet face-to-face with many policy makers. It gave everyone a chance to learn more about corn farming and its importance in the well-being of the country.

The Flaming family will be a part of the American Enterprise exhibit for 20 years.
